Default Lou Reed

Really...? There's not a thread on this guy? I just ran a search on here and on Google, and while we have threads on a few of his albums (as well as a Cale vs. Reed), we don't actually have a thread solely dedicated to him.

Anyways... I felt he deserved a thread, so... here you go.

Here's my favorite song by him. It features some Warhol films along with it. Enjoy...

Perfect day is my favourite song to listen to when I'm sad.

I throw myself into singing it. It's the perfect combination of sounding sad and being positive.

Lou Reed is the man. I have all his albums and this song is my favourite:

I've seen Lou perform many times over the years, and he's always been worth seeing.
One of the most memorable performances I saw, was in Boston, MA, during his New York tour. Lou was playing the 'New York' Album from start to finish, and shortly after starting the show, some loudmouth in the audience kept yelling out "This sucks! Play some rock & roll!"
Lou finally stopped playing, pointed at the guy and told him "This is rock & roll, it's my rock & roll." "If you don't like my rock & roll, why don't ya just split? Get a refund, mother****er."
The audience erupted in cheers and applause, and we never heard a word from the heckler for the rest of the show.

Here's a link to an excerpt from the Rolling Stone interview with Lou, published shortly afterward.

I love this version

Need to get more of his solo stuff. One guy I have not ventured that far into, but have always meant to.

Ok so I've gone through almost all of his solo albums up to New York (minus the Metal Machine Music experiment) and I won't lie, it was a chore. New York seemed like some kind of return to his earlier days, which was appreciated, but most of the stuff after Transformer just kind of blended together. Listenable (most of it, although some tracks are just bizarre, like, what was up with Women?) but nothing comes close to his VU stuff and those 3 songs on Transformer. :/
