It's one of the only genres that requires a serious fan to put on this whole persona, attire and all.

wow. i just killed half an hour on a snowy sunday reading the entirety of this thread. i don't think i would have had it any other way. lol

anyway. slipknot is boring as f*ck. surprised nobody told him to go listen to tool.

notable enjoyables in this thread:
1: the constant use of the word "sophisticated" in a thread about slipknot.
2: the constant use of the word brutal, as though brutal is a state of being. hahahaha
3: the fact that we all love pickin' on kids!

As the guy was a troll, nobody other than making fun of him, was overly inclined to help him by suggesting other bands.

I was thoroughly disappointed after reading the title.

The title lead me to believe the op would be something like "Slipknot very good are band among suck throughly crash good power passion is" but no the poster had to have a minimal grasp of the english language.

I doubt the OP could decipher any of the above.

Most of the metal world is like the WWF of music, all about acting as hardcore, menacing, and dark as possible, it's what puts me off of most metal. That said, there are a several awesome metal bands out there, but for the most part they are the ones who forgo the "Look at how Brvtal I am" posturing in exchange for something more reel and thoughtful.

Music is art and like all art it's subjective- what you think is bad others may find to be genius, you may not like technical guitar playing but that doesn't invalidate the style.

No, playing like that takes a LOT of practice, knowledge, and dedication. If you think that what these musicians play is just random notes you're horribly off base and need to take a closer look.

It doesn't require it, obviously. I don't know about you but I've come across many "metal heads" who insist on wearing the typical metal head outfit, everyday. I also know many other people who like a certain music just as much as any metal head likes metal and they don't feel the need to wear a certain uniform. Not saying all serious metal fans are like this, though.

Really? Except for the kids with the tattoos, mouth piercings, and ear gauges, I don't think there are many metalheads who have any kind of uniform, and those kids suck ass anyways. Maybe back in the eighties they did, but these days it seems to be a pretty slack genre in terms of that kind of thing.
