Anybody listen to Mystery?
The world is a game was my first album from them which I enjoy immensely. Going to have to start back tracking their previous releases. Just wondering if anybody else listens to these guys.

Love Mystery! In fact I reviewed two of their albums in my journal, one of which ("The world is a game") also gets on my best of 2012 list. St-Pere is a real focal point for the band, and the vocals of Benoit David just totally complement his style. I think Mystery should be a lot better known than they are, and hopefully they will be before too long.
I can recommend "One among the living", although to be fair that and the new one are all I've had the time to listen to. I have little doubt that the previous four albums are just as good though. :thumb: |
Ive never heard of this band, can someone plz give me a good song from this band to check out?

I try to appreciate each artist for their uniqueness and individuality which is why I have an extensive library of music to listen to.

I'm not sure how you can say a bad vocalist! Benoit David was the replacement of choice for Jon Anderson in Yes --- in fact, he sounds a lot like him: almost uncannily so --- so if you're saying he's bad then you're also saying Anderson is bad, and that just proves that you're making a very false assumption here, as love him or loathe him, most will agree Jon Anderson is a very talented person and a great vocalist.
Also, this discussion would be better held in the progressive rock subforum, if a mod might be kind enough to move it? Whiskey, put down your ninth Jack Daniels and try this. :D |

No, you're entitled to your opinion of course. I was just surprised you thought David a bad vocalist. As a matter of interest, do you rate Jon Anderson, or is it that sort of falsetto sound you don't like?
Glad you liked the second track anyway... |

Hmm. Let's see: despite numerous warnings, sliding Slipknot into every single conversation, thread, post and probably fart too. Account finally, and properly, disabled.

Lead singer for Yes one of the greatest progressive rock bands ever.

Here's what I consider to be Jon Anderson's finest hour... |

I mean, I'm not an expert in any genre really but I've been building my music collection for half of my life (perhaps it is not so big at 21,000 songs) and I promise I have not once come across his name. !! Who is this mystery man? *watches the vid* |
Ok, I listened to the track, felt even more in the dark (sounds a bit like an earlier, younger, boy-choir Sting??). I checked out the Wikipedia to investigate.
IT TURNS out the guy is English, well here's one of the first issues. Americans are generally ignorant about music from the UK, and if there's no top 40 hit that stays on the chart for 6 or more weeks the band tends to fall by the wayside. The highest position he got in the US was 17, by the way, which in and of itself makes me feel like he was just not that popular there (where I grew up). The second issue is that his last hit was in 1986, which is some years before I was born. Sooooo unless my mom loved this guy (as she so loved U2, Sting, Led Zeppelin, etc), chances are I would just never have come across him. I have heard of Yes, but I couldn't recall any specific song. Sorry TH! Thanks for the enlightenment, but not my taste. :) |

That does surprise me, Jansz. I mean, outside of Yes he's also had top ten hits with Vangelis. I would have thought everyone knew who he was. Guess not.
:shycouch: Their two biggest hits together... |
