Rhapsody Of Fire / Symphonic Power Metal

Hey everyone. So theres a really nice band called Rhapsody of Fire. This band was led by a musician named Luca Turilli until he left in 2011. He has also formed other bands and projects. He has recently formed Luca Turilli's Rhapsody after leaving Rhapsody of Fire.

Anyway, I think thats the best band in this genre. For those of you who have no idea what this genre sounds like, here's a good song.

Luca Turilli - 06 - The Ancient Forest of Elves - YouTube

Dont forget to check this song out, even if you dont think you like the genre. You might change your mind after yuo hear it.

I think they have some cool songs and are fun to listen to, but they are also horribly, awfully, terribly cheesy. It's as cool as being a single man past your 40s, living in your boys room in your mothers basement and still collecting everything from Dungeons & Dragons that exists under the sun.

Now, I like D&D too, but when I meet new people, the first thing I say to them is not "Hi, I'm Tore. I love Dungeons & Dragons". In fact, I keep those cards pretty close to my chest until maybe I hear someone else fess up first. Maybe then I can let people in on my embarassing secret.

With Rhapsody, it's almost exactly the same way.

This kind of music has absolutely nothing to do with D&D, its just a genre of music that I personally really like and was curious if others on this forum like it too. Its not embarassing if you like it, but if you dont, that is fine too.

Dude, they made not one, but two concept albums that I know about about a fantasy epic that they invented. That's pretty D&D. Not that that's a bad thing. I love me some cheese metal. I've never listened to as much Rhapsody as I should have, but they've definitely got some good shiznit. Do you listen to other power metal as well? I'm pretty obsessed with Hammerfall and Manowar right now, but I could also go for some Blind Guardian or some Helloween or even some Angra just to name a few.

I've been getting into this band recently

but there are a hundred thousand bands that do the same thing, some better, some not. I personally love Kamelot too, though many/most here will spit on my grave for it! :D
One of their better tracks

I used to listen to Stratovarius, but got bored of their music. I like Rhapsody much more because their music is more dramatic and energetic and I like these kind of things. Ive never heard Hammerfall and Manowar so if you know about a good song of these bands, feel free to post it and I'll check it out and let you know if I like it or not.

I checked out both of these songs right now, I dislike the first one mostly because of the vocalist's shrieking voice. The second one was much better. However, I only listened to the first 2 minutes or so of both songs, as I dont have much time to sit and listen to it until the end. But that Kamelot band, Ive never heard them before and that song was pretty good so I might check this band out a bit further sometime.

Thanks in general for replying guys, I got a few bad comments from people mocking me because I listen to Rhapsody.

Favourite Manowar song (don't worry about the shriek at the start, it's just a warcry!) :)

First, of all, if you're gonna listen to Manowar, then you need to disconnect your brain and embrace your inner dumbass. This isn't music to take seriously. If you want drama, then Manowar's "Gloves of Steel" should do the trick.

And here's a bitchin' song by Hammerfall.

You obviously don't understand the fine art of using parallels and examples to get points across.

You're only saying that because you dont like Rhapsody, and perhaps also a personal grudge towards me. I understand a lot of things, quit jumping on me like that for no reason.

The batlord: I liked Gloves of Metal, is that how most of Manowar's discography sound like?
