Myname,

How do you feel about YMCMB(young money cash money) acquisition of Limp Bizkit?

A collaborative effort with Lil Wayne/Limp Bizkit is pretty much the modern day Cream

At that age, I had no grasp of music at all. Being young I didn't give a **** nor was there any thought listening to who I did. You can listen to whatever the hell you want. I'm not one for telling who you should listen to while having a critical opinion of whoever. That was what I tried to illustrate.

'Bout time someone takes a stand for the white stripes.

I'm assuming you aren't talking about quality, since a collaboration between Lil Wayne and Limp Bizkit is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Street cred? So you get/lose "street cred" for listening to a certain band? Wow, all the things posers would say just to turn other people into posers, hilarious and pathetic at same time

Sparky - I don't have much of an opinion about it. I'm just waiting to see the first album and then I'll judge them, but for now I try to have faith. I just hope that rest of the album won't be like City of Angels/Lightz. Its a catchy pop song and its simply not fit for Limp Bizkit. Its not bad, its just that I don't want Limp Bizkit to waste their potential on that. If I wanted to listen a catchy pop song I'd listen to 100s of others generic artists, but nothing can replace LB's heavy, funky, goofy "don't give a ****" style.

Honestly, I don't like Lil Wayne and I think he sounds like a granny but, hey, the guy succeeded in the music world which means he is good at the type of music he does. So if you think that bitching about it over internet will bother him in his big house with loads of women and money, go ahead.

Similar situation with KoRn. I can listen to 100 other dubstep artists if I want dubstep, but I can't replace KoRn. KoRnstep is just bad IMO but I'm glad that at least it got good critics and some old fans can listen to it and enjoy it.

To be fair, for me it's also the vocals and the songwriting.

I would agree with that assessment also. I thought I was alone. There was one Raconteurs song I enjoyed.

Black Francis 01-31-2013 04:08 PM

@MyName

oh.. you're actually serious aren't you?

Nevermind you prefer Limp Biskit over The Deftones (That's just wrong.. :( )

But just as a singer/rapper Fred Durst sucks..
i don't think there's a deeper meaning to his lyrics aside from what he's actually saying

this reminds me of this

You're imposing a deeper meaning to his songs..
romanticising the notion he's a good lyricist but you can do that with any mediocre artist.. or with anything really

How bout doing it with Bands that are actually good? lol

i know taste is subjective, but did you hear Fred sing that Who cover?

'Behind blue eyes' or something like that, it was just horrible!

i admit, his rapping delivery is cool but when he actually tries to sing he sounds awful..

Musicfanatic 01-31-2013 10:21 PM

I love that John Lennon video! I always get an odd look when I say that I think he might have been the 2nd coming, and that vid just shows how Christly the man was. Though I am an unbeliever...who knew!

That stalker looks more like Jesus than John does lol

FYI, John wasn't jewish so he couldn't be the 2nd coming, Brilliant musician though :)

Gold Cobra was alright, they had a few tracks with the same old feeling to it but I guess if you moved on from that sound you wouldn't have enjoyed it and it also wasn't solid through and through like hot dog flavored water was.

MyName 02-01-2013 05:46 AM

Black Francis - Actually, I listen to Deftones/LB depending on my mood. But if I had to choose I actually prefer Deftones a bit more. Its just that Back to School is a bad song and that style of music is not fit for them. I'm a very realistic person and I don't just mindlessly defend everything a band I like does. F.e. some things that bother me about LB.

Almost whole RMV album is bad and its B-sides make me vomit. I also hate Durst's rapping/screaming voice in some songs, f.e. rapping in "Hot Dog" and screaming in "Get a life". Sounds too high pitched and annoying.

But then again I like his rapping in songs like "Combat Jazz" and "Bring it Back" and screaming in "Eat you alive"

I actually like Durst's singing and I think their version of the song is better than The Who's. I think The Who's version is simply outdated and that their singer's accent is very unpleasant. That's not to say Limp Bizkit never did bad covers, I literally laughed my ass off when they did a cover of Opiate(originally by Tool). He made OPIATE sound cheerful like an intro song of some children show.

Limp Bizkit - Rollin interpretation coming today. Its a very profound and meaningful song and it'll be a joy to reveal its message.

MyName 02-01-2013 03:10 PM

Limp Bizkit - Rollin interpretation. I won't repeat chorus and same lyrics twice to make the post shorter.

"Chocolate Starfish!" - He yells it out and introduces himself, the "Chocolate Starfish" which is a synonym for an a.sshole. By this he is telling us to be honest, admit our cons and make fun of them.

"Move in now move out" - He is saying that it is a part of life to change where we live and keep our life moving, not just stay in one place for eternity like plants.

"Hands up now hands down" - Just like in school, sometimes we know the answers sometimes we don't. There are many possible outcomes however. We can go through life safely but without much profit(never raising a hand but never screwing up also), normally(raising the hand if we don't know the answer, not raising it if we don't know) or we can take risks and either profit or fail(raising the hand even when we don't know the answer just to get on the teacher's good side).

"Back up, Back up" - He is saying that he thinks we should risk and always put our hands up(no risk no profit)

"Tell me what you gonna do now?" - Now he is asking us a question how are we going to go through life, what choice are we going to make?

"Keep rollin rollin rollin" - In the end it doesn't matter which choices we made - its just important that we keep going through life, never give up and always be optimistic, aka we should just keep rollin :).

"Now I know you'll be loving this **** right here, L.I.M.P Bizkit is right here" - He is telling us that Limp Bizkit will always be "right here" for their fans and that he is confident we love them and we get to another important quality in life - confidence.

"People in the house put them hands in the air cause if you don't care then we don't care" - He is saying that we should always put our hands in the air - which can also be interpreted that we should learn a lot about life so that we can proudly put our hands in the air frequently. In the other part he is saying the cruel truth - if we don't care about ourselves and don't respect ourselves nobody will.

"1,2,3 times 2 to da 6 Jonesin for you picks of the Limp Bizkit mix" - He is trying to send a message that the basics are very important, f.e. 3 times 2 to da 6. Jonesin is a craving for drugs, and he is saying that Limp Bizkit is our drug.

"Where the **** you at punk shut the **** up and back the **** up while we **** this track up" - Now he is speaking to the haters and asking them what did they do in their lives to judge him? What gives them the right to judge him if he succeeded as a musician and has a huge fan base while all they do is cry and whine. So he tells them to shut the **** up and get lost.

"Throw your hands up" - Now we can notice gradation, first it was hands up now hands now it is THROW your hands up, which is a much more dynamic move than simply putting your hand up.

"Breathe in now breathe out" - It is important to stop once in a while and have fun too, because just as with breathing we can't live our life without fun but we must know when to stop.

"You wanna mess with Limp Bizkit? You can't mess with Limp Bizkit - Why? Cause we get it on - When? Every day and every night" - Once again he speaks to haters and tells them they can't mess with his mind cause he is filled with energy and excitement every day and every night.

"See this platnuim thing right here? - Uh-Hu Well we're doin it all the time - Wha? So you better get some better beats and uh, get some better rhymes - Doh!" - Continuing to speak to haters he is emphasizing the fact that he is obviously good at music he does and that he succeeded while they are just jealous and untalented but stuck up and pretentious with superiority complex - which is a bad combination.

"We got the game set so don't complain yet, 24/7 never beggin for a raincheck,Old school soldiers, Blastin out the hot ****, That rock ****, Let 'em bounce in the mosh pit" - He is saying that he's always ready to play the music and he doesn't need to take "rainchecks" aka delays and pauses. He is always consistent, always delivering and always able to make his fans happy and bouncing in the moshpits.

"Hey ladies, hey fellas, and the people who don't give a ****! All the lovers, all the haters, and all the people who call themselves players! Hot mammas, pimp daddies and the people rollin in the caddies! Hey rockers, hip-hopers, and everybody all around the world!" - He is calling out people from different groups which indicates that he is open minded and loves everybody. He even gives the haters a chance which is a proof of his good heart and that he is willing to forgive even the worst, most malicious people who only spread hate.

So, the 2nd coming has to be Jewish? How do we know that Lennon didn't have Jewish blood in him? I sure think that he did...well, what I meant, he had a good man's blood in him. Now, to find the 2nd coming, we must do a house to house search of all Jewish homes. Sounds like history might be catching up with myth/legend...:shycouch:

I agree with this interpretation.

To OP:

I find this post very amusing. Tool is a band that is very lyrically inclined and i just can't compare them in any aspect to Limp Bizkit. I'm guessing your from a younger generation so you are prone to listening to crappy music. But i do see hope for you however because you are looking into songs more thoroughly. You just need a better sense of music.

The Batlord 02-02-2013 08:44 AM

You know, I'll bet that Fred Durst wearing his hat backwards is a metaphor for the world being backwards, and he's trying to tell us that when the world is backwards then you must look forward. Praise be to Fred.

Sug0rt 02-02-2013 06:45 PM

I love the irony in the fact that MyName has taken more time and mental strain in trying to find the deeper meaning in the lyrics than the time and mental strain taken to write them...

Also, about the crying thing, man the **** up you pussy ass bitch mother****er. BTW, that's me putting it politely.

his interpretation is better than the actual lyrics, and honestly i still think the guy is joking, maybe he got lost in the sarcasm of the joke.

It took you a whole 20 minutes!? Also, why does everything have to have a 'deeper' meaning. I hate when people see something that should be taken at face value and try to find hundreds of deep and meaningful interpretations.

This thread is on the bizarre side, but two things finally got my attention:
1) Yeah, the admission from a long-time member that many of the people around here seem to only contribute nastiness instead of well-meaning music discussion.
2) The claim that the "Behind Blue Eyes" cover is good - because despite the reaction of most critics and music fans, it is good, which I've said before.

Though the "Faith" cover is terrible, and Limp Bizkit is not a good band overall. But Durst himself isn't as douchey and untalented as most people think, and I can't rule out that "Nookie" has a deeper meaning than what I've always believed.
