The bands sucking is fact.

The music they make is up for discussion. Even Nickleback has a song I like ("Rock Star").

Yeah, some bands just suck. People don't hate their fanbases in general, they hate it when the music sucks, or when people seem to love the said band so much it just becomes stupid. Once again I'm referring to the previously mentioned Slipknot Thread.

I don't know, saying that a band in general "just sucks" kind of feels like your invalidating the opinions of others.
I don't like to think any musician 'sucks' per say. granted some bands/artists do have a higher musicianship than other. I just always think if you have a fan you deserve that fan because you've obviously done something to appeal to them.

To me, the word "sucks" means the same as "has absolutely nothing worth liking". Remember that these are only my opinions.

Why? Words like "sucks" or "awesome" or similar are big giant flags that an opinion is being expressed as opposed to a fact. If someone is expressing an opinion, I don't see how that invalidates other opinions.

Yeah, and those people can keep thinking Creed's good.

I'll keep thinking that Creed sounds like a preachy, watered-down version of Stone Temple Pilots/Pearl Jam.

Now, I think that Linkin Park sucks. Obviously I am entitled to my opinion. Some may disagree. That doesn't make my opinion any less correct for me than it makes their opinion any less correct for them. But does that mean that we should keep our opinions to ourselves or pussy-foot around and pretend that our opinions aren't as strong as they really are just so as to not offend others? Of course not. Musical discussion would be pointless and dull then. So long as someone doesn't call you an idiot for liking King Crimson or Candlebox then you should just accept their opinion and not let it bother you and perhaps even argue against their opinion to start a lively discussion.

Of course, if you're in high school, then you're pretty much screwed unless you're willing to give someone an uppercut over your love of Three Days Grace.

Just when someone said "some bands just suck" to me it kind of felt like he was saying "no matter what you think of them, it is fact this band sucks"
but yeah, I TRY to respect others opinions with music (as hard as it can be sometimes.....), simply because i hate it when people disrespect mine.

Some music is objectively bad though. But you can subjectively like bad music if it floats your boat.
