Essential Melvins Albums
Hey guys, Crinn here. I didn't check to see if there was already a Melvins thread, so i apologize if this is a dupe. Anyways, I have not listened to The Melvins before, and I feel that I am missing out. I've talked to a lot of people that say "get all of their ****", well, they have a lot.
What would you say are the most famous and/or most essential Melvins albums that I should get? |
Really, get all of their ****.
I guess essentials would be their first six albums minus Prick, and Hostile Ambient Takeover, (A) Senile Animal, then you should listen to all the others. Honky is good too. I like Prick, but it's not essential, it's just a noise album. |

^^^^^That right there is your best bet, first listening of the Melvins.

Thanks, guys:band:

you all should be ashamed then Houdini also Lysol and The Maggot |
^ One of my all time favourites is Bullhead. From Boris..to Zodiac and It's Shoved. Awesome album.
The Maggot if you want heavy the whole way through. As a more recent pick, a Senile Animal is pretty shit hot too, a really good album from start to finish. |
Definitely check out their album with Jello Biafra: Never Breathe What You Can't See.

A truly epic work. Opens with a killer drone before diving into five tracks of pure bliss. Amazing melodies, and a perfect blend of stoner rock and sludge metal. The album also only clocks in at about 30 minutes, which always leaves you wanting more. Once this thing goes in the player, it usually plays at least 3 times. Just the best. It's too bad about how things went down between the band and Joe Preston; I really like what he brought to the band.
