their new album is garbage

All That Remains can suck my ****. They are absolutely horrible. It is just generic metalcore like the 99.99% of other metalcore bands out there. There riffs are boring, the vocals are terrible, and they are completely unoriginal.

I've been quite impressed by ATR thus far. Found them a few years ago. Fall of Ideals really blew me away...It's hard to use that kind of metalcore formula and not get monotonous, and yet they threw down distinctive solos and catchy riffs track after track. Their vocals were neat too. His cleans sound great, and his screams still raise hair. Finding a balance there is difficult. The only issue I would raise is that their sound is starting to muddy up. They're done for if they don't find something new to add to the mix.

not my favorite band, but yeah they're good

actually they are totally different than most metalcore dude. And their guitarist is great. People like you need to learn the band before randomly dissing them.

I can't believe this thread has been around for 4 years and only 3 pages.

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of this band, but they are in no way different than most metalcore. Scream verse sing chorus solo breakdown is the formula for most popular metalcore bands.

Overcome, the newest album, is just OK. They went a little too much for the "more accessible" thing, as bands tend to do. If I didn't like all of their other albums I probably wouldn't like it at all.

Behind Silence and Solitude, the first album, is pretty good but is very different sounding from the others and does start to sound kinda like the same thing over and over by the end. But still kinda pulls me in.

This Darkened Heart and The Fall of Ideals, the middle two albums, are both amazing. I like the Fall of Ideals the best, I don't care if critics say it is unoriginal or whatever, I love every song on that album. This Darkened Heart is a very good second.

Great band. They bust out some good solos and I personally really like the screamer's style. Drums I would say are also above average. :D

Van Halen did the same thing. Sing the verses, shout the chorus', talk over the bridge, and then EPIC SOLO!!! then do the chorus again and end song. They made a career out of that. Along with 100's of other 70's and 80's rock/metal bands. Song formula's aren't something new here.

This band is brutal, regardless of their originality. The Fall of Ideals is still of one of my favorite albums of the last few years.
