Top 10 Vocalist Go !!

Who is your Top 10 Male/Female Vocalist Rock/Metal Genre in the Past 15 years. List them I am going to post my fiancee's list because I think she has a exceptional ear for that.

Unknown Soldier 12-09-2014 04:16 PM

Why don't you post your two lists first? It's normally the best way to start a thread.

You've narrowed it down to one, so you're doing well.

Wiki told me in a few clicks, maybe you should try this method sometime.

Tristesse 12-18-2014 01:39 PM

Anyone who doesn't consider James Dean Bradfield as one of the all time greatest vocalists just hasn't listened to enough good music yet

Asking Alexandria (Danny Worsnip)

One of the best male rock/metal vocalist during the past 15 years or so in my opinion is Danny Worsnop, on guitar and vocals with the band Asking Alexandria. Their current single Moving On (power ballad) is all over the airwaves playing at least 4 or 5 different times a day on radio stations.

They are from York, North Yorkshire England formed in 2008. Their lastest album From Death to Destiny was realeased in March of this year.
Worsnop is one of the best vocalist I've heard since Steven Tyler. I was surprised when I read that Worsnop has cited Areosmith as a main influence. Steven Tyler was who he most resembled on vocals when I first heard them.

Mondo Bungle 12-20-2014 07:41 PM

Here are mine for funzies

1. Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Tomahawk, Weird Little Boy, Peeping Tom, General Patton vs The X- Ecutioners, Hemophiliac, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Maldorer, Lovage, Kaada/Patton, Crudo)
2. Freddie Mercury (Queen)
3. Chris Reifert (Autopsy, Abscess, The Ravenous)
4. Jim Morrison (The Doors)
5. Jon Chang (Gridlink, Discordance Axis, Hayaino Daisuki)
6. Kurt Cobain (Nirvana)
7. Ian Gillian (Deep Purple)
8. Peter Steele (Type O Negative, Carnivore)
9. Varg Vikernes (Burzum)
10. Famine and Niege (Peste Noire, Alcest, Dor Daedeloth, Forgotten Woods, Old Silver Key, respectively)

That was off the top of my head.

Frownland 12-20-2014 07:48 PM

I don't care about the time limit. Most of these qualify anyway.

Captain Beefheart
Arrington de Dionyso (Old Time Relijun)
Mark Stewart (The Pop Group)
Mike Patton (Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, Faith No More)
Yamatsuka Eye (Boredoms, Hanatarashi, Naked City)
Damo Suzuki (Can)
Keiji Haino
Tom Waits
Sainkho Namtchylak
Maynard James Keenan (Tool)

Suzuki! I can't believe I forgot about him.

Pet_Sounds 12-20-2014 08:03 PM

I'm really not sure what the 15-year limit is about, so I'll ignore it.

In no particular order and spontaneously:

Freddie Mercury (obviously)
Jim Morrison
Billy Joel :shycouch:
Tom Waits
Elvis Presley
Bob Dylan (awful voice, fantastic vocalist)
Roger Hodgson
John Lennon
Art Garfunkel
Bobby Hatfield

You can probably tell I don't listen to much metal.

He's incredible. Peking O alone would earn him a spot on the list.

It was requested in the OP if you read it, which gives only a small window of time in order to name 10 actual good vocalist.

Here is mine that includes during the past 40 years or so.

Sammy Hagar
Paul Rogers
Annie Lennox
Ozzy Osbourne
Mick Jagger
Sebastian Bach
Steven Tyler
Bob Seger
Buddy Holly
Rob Halford
Steve Perry

So many more worth mention.

Inoran - Inoran - Luna Sea - FAKE? - Tourbillon
Brandon Boyd - Incubus...many others, too...

Michael Jackson - The Jackson Five, then later obviously, solo...
Maynard James Keenan - TOOL - A Perfect Circle - Puscifer
Jonas Renkse - Katatonia
J. Loren Wince - HURT
