Default How difficult is it to sing Death Metal

How difficult is it to really sing death metal, and are there other music genres that is more difficult?

I can't speak to the difficulty, but I think there's a specific way to do it without risking damaging vocal cords.

I'd say brutal death metal vocals à la Suffocation are the hardest of the extreme metal genres to sing, particularly live.

I'd imagine it would be easier to growl death metal.

About as easy as it is to rap. To bad it's knot music tho.

Oddly enough you still have to be able to carry pitch and project on key (even if you can't sing well). Growls, squeals, and screams that are off pitch/key sound unprofessional. You can work on that by growling with a piano. Other than that it just takes practice pushing air from the gut and not the throat. I know a lot of vocalists who lose their voice more on high screams than low growls.

Must be easy because I can't sing worth **** but I can do a decent Death Metal imitation. Gives me a sore throat though!
