Been wanting to start a thread on this guy for a while. Not sure whether to put this in the blues section or in rock, so I'll put it here.

Anyone ever heard of him?

My father was a crucial getting him "discovered" in the early 70's and I met him several times myself. At the end of this special, which appeared on PBS in 1971, my father gets a credit.

Sadly, he took his own life in 1988.

100% pure brilliance. Every time I pick up my telecaster I think of him.

Jeff Beck's tribute to Roy. My late 70s band use to play this. Was always great watching the crowd get into it.

Something often disputed. Apparently he also kicked his own ass prior to hanging himself based on the bruises.

Roy Buchanan is easily my fave blues guitarist, and I was lucky enough to see him live in London - in the early 80s, I think. He was right on form, with a small, unambitious band, and every song was a guitar-led gem.

Which albums do people like? I think "Second Album" from 1973 is his best, most consistent set of songs, and was a little disappointed with his 1977 effort: "Loading Zone"
