That's a terrible name.

Trollheart 10-14-2015 03:17 PM

You're a terrible name.

Come up with something better then. I think it ought to have "Scene" in it though...

Edit: I think it may in fact be called "Mean Streets". Shut up.

The Batlord 10-14-2015 08:08 PM

What may be called Mean Streets?

I am confused as well. 10 bucks says Trollheart been on a coffee binge since metal month started. He can't count, has weird rantings, and now talks to himself. It all fits.

The thing you talked about, Florida death metal etc etc. That series. I think I might call it that.

I don't drink coffee.

Exactly. No change at all. Who are you anyway? Are those my feet? Why is that man in the red balloon six inches above my head waving and using a nailgun to hammer in small children's hands onto the basket of his balloon? What's in this tea anyway?

State of Death might be better, as it's a reference to Obituary's second album.

And if you want to do a cooperative thing, maybe I should put in a quick intro before you listen to each album/scene to give you a bit of backstory or something to give you an idea of what to listen for from someone who appreciates the album/scene from repeated listenings (f.ex. the differences in music and influences between San Francisco and German thrash, or the way Swedish death metal was influenced by Florida death metal).

Might not be something for every album, since I'm not that familiar with and haven't even heard a few of them (Google and RYM are my friend).

Yeah, but it may be going to extend over the next few years into other areas. I mean, if I did Scandinavian Black Metal, sure, that title fits, but if I then go into Prog or Power metal, perhaps not so much so. I thought of "Mean Streets" because it kind of takes in the idea of a scene being in a certain place or places, or being at least focussed there.

If you check back, Batty and I were discussing something for Metal Month IV, and a title for it. It all follows on quite naturally.

But Mean Streets is boring and says nothing about anything.
