Megadeth, Megadeth, MEGADETH !!! Enough said.

Metallica didn't sell out despite claims that The Black Album did exactly that. Yes there was that whole Napster bit but any time some hardcore rock band gains mainstream success then sellout gets screamed in their faces. It's a flaming pile of turd. Would we rather they die of starvation?

After listening to the entirety of The Black Album the other day? Yes.

I could give a **** if they're sellouts. Post-eighties Metallica is just tedious.

Metallica:

Kill em All = Most righteous
Ride the Lighting = Righteous
Master of Puppets = A masterpiece
Garage Days = All right
And Justice for All = Pretty good
The Black Album = Not bad, but a sell out
Everything after = $hit

Megdeth:

Killing is my Business = allright, but a little quirky
Peace Sells, but whose buying = Most righteous
So Far So good So what = All right, misses the mark though
Rust in Peace = A progressive rock wank
Countdown to Extinction = pretty good from what I remember years ago
Everything after = Who gives a $hit!

That's cool how you got through that without mentioning album sales, chart success, or overall popularity. Also, I almost agree with you but only almost. Here's mine:

Kill Em All = Amazing, fresh american metal
Ride the Lightning = even better, more refined but not much more polished
Master of Puppets = more polished, still great
Garage Days = I always loved this one. Probably the first time I appreciated slow heavy music
And Justice for All = very good. an 80s classic
Black Album = not bad, but a sellout
Everything after = $hit

Killing is my Business = genius, better than Kill Em All
Peace Sells but Who's Buying = maybe the pinnacle of mid 80s speed/thrash. probably my favorite of all of these
So Far So Good So What = another 80s classic. By far the worst of all 7 albums released by both bands in the 80s. Way too much heroin
Rust In Peace = Proggy wank but still very good. Kind of a return to form regarding musical complexity
Everything after = no good at all

Hmmmm, well outside of being absolutely baffled at how you can like Killing is my Business more than Kill em All, I think were pretty close to being on the same page.

I don't like proggy off beat time signatures and beats at all though. For me it often signals the end of a genre. The end of classic rock in the 70's, the end of thrash metal in the 80's, the end of hardcore in the 90's and 00's, and now most likely the end of rap and hip hop.

METALLICA
Kill Em All = Pretty allright and I like the way it sounds. The Four Horsemen, Pulling Teeth and Motorbreath are the real reason it isn't mediocre.
Ride the Lightning = Very melodic guitar playing, good songwriting - I like it!
Master of Puppets = A bit bloated. Some songs are severely overplayed by now. I never want to hear the title track again, but Welcome Home is great.
And Justice for All = Great. Their best 80's album by a mile. Love the twisting and turning songs.
Black Album = Eh, its allright. Enter Sandman is crap though.
Load = I like it, but...
ReLoad = ... ReLoad does it much better. Once the first three tracks are over,
its nothing but great tunes all the way to the end. Hetfield is in great vocal
shape here and the production is colourful and meaty.
Garage Inc. = Disc 1 is good, disc 2 is excellent!
S & M = The two new songs are good, the rest are a completely failed experiment. Hetfield is still in good vocal shape, but the orchestral arrangments are tasteless and messy. Pretty much ruins the album.
St. Anger = I like the vibe of the album, but it is bloated beyond belief.
Death Magnetic = Sounds like crap, is crap. Not even a cover band could save
these über bloated mishappen songs. Most riffs sound stupid.

MEGADETH
Killing is my Business = Eh... Got a couple good tracks or three.
Peace Sells but Who's Buying = Pretty good, but I never listen to it.
So Far So Good So What = Love it! So much energy and most songs kick
ass on several levels. In My Darkest Hour is one of the best Megadeth tracks.
Rust In Peace = Sounds great of course, and there's a lot of cool riffs and
solos all over this thing. Lucretia and Tornado of Souls are an invicible combo.
Countdown to Extinction = My favourite!
Youthanasia = The first Megadeth album to feel a bit bloated. Almost like it was penned by Metallica or something. Too much midtempo riffing and too many repeats. Does Nick Menza play more than one drum rhythm on this album? I don't think he does. Still has a few killer tunes.
Cryptic Writings = No wait, this is my favourite! I can never decide.
Risk = A good alt. rock album. Mustaine sings better than he ever did before or after. Great production.
The World Needs a Hero = Good mix of Risk and Countdown to Extinction. The reason why people hate it, I guess.
The System has Failed = A little over produced. Soo much vocal layering! But the songs are good and some are even among my favourites.
United Abominations = I wish Andy Sneap would go deaf and stay away from other peoples albums, but the songs are good despite the flat sound.
Endgame = Sneap again, flat sound again, but the songs are good.
13 = Nice mid 90's 'Deth throwback. Lots of good songs, but maybe too many riffs that sound like Mustaine isn't pushing himself much.
Super Collider = Better than its reputation. Sure, the title track is kind of lame, but there's a very solid mid section on this album. Lots of great nuances in the guitar playing all throughout the album.
