"Led Zeppelin stole from African American musicians"

Is this true, I have heard this claim before....that they would not be as popular if they were a black band...since they were playing music that many african american musicians were playing

is this accurate or true?

Led Zeppelin outright lifted stuff from Wille Dixon etc. But the music was presented in a completely different high energy electrified manner as to make it their own... quite an achivement when considering some of It was stolen ...so yes and no. They lifted but they also created a new vision not really touched upon before them. Others had shown a desire to be heavier. .Cream etc. But no one really achieved true heaviness before Zeppelin laid the ground worki
I supposed you needed to be there to really comprehend my full meaning of their impact..

Zeppelin ripped off everyone.

They wouldn't be as popular if they were a black band, definitely, but that's nothing to do with them stealing songs from black artists (which they definitely did).

Didn't they also steal from white artists? Why so much focus on black people?

Zeppelin didn't "steal" from anybody...WTF does that even mean to "steal"

Zeppelin was certaintly influenced by Blues in their early career, which I guess you can say is a "black" genre, but they put their own twist on it that was completely unique

this is like saying Einstein "stole" from Newton...or Beethoven "stole" from Mozart

or James Joyce "stole" from Homer
