Luca Mai of Zu was on some of their albums if that means anything (it should).

I know but I didn't connect the two in that post. I'm drunk and invoking the Ki rule.

Final List (first draft)

rough draft take one, how's it lookin

1. The Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity
2. Botch - We Are the Romans
3. Coalesce - Functioning on Impatience
4. Converge - Petitioning the Empty Sky
5. Genghis Tron - Board Up the House
6. Deadguy - Fixation on a Coworker
7. The Number Twelve Looks Like You - Mongrel
8. Knut - Challenger
9. As the Sun Sets - Each Individual Voice is Dead in the Silence
10. Psyopus - Our Puzzling Encounters Considered

The Batlord 12-02-2016 02:52 PM

Ion Dissonance, Nostromo, and probably Gaza should replace As the Sun Sets, Genghis Tron, and The Number Twelve. Not sure about that Coalesce album either, but more about which Coalesce album.

Mondo Bungle 12-02-2016 02:54 PM

I'd be on board with replacing ATSS, and one of the other two but not both. The list needs something like that, and they're both still some of the highest regarded mathcore albums out there.

I'd say The Number Twelve then. They sound too generic for me. I love that Nostromo album, but haven't listened to Gaza enough to talk about it. I'll say give me an hour or so to give my final verdict, but The Number Twelve needs to go for either Gaza or Nostromo. ATSS needs to go for Ion Dissonance no question though. Final answer on that ****.

And I'd still like to talk about which Psyopus and Coalesce album goes on.

Mondo Bungle 12-02-2016 02:59 PM

have you not listened to Mongrel? That's as far from generic as it gets, the ****

if anything that's the most experimental album on the list

Alright, maybe not generic, but I'd still take Nostromo over it. And I imagine others would take Gaza. Have you not listened to Nostromo? Pure ****ing intensity. That's my vote. It's so much heavier than 99% of metal/mathcore.

It's like grindcore made an artform out of the breakdown.

Mondo Bungle 12-02-2016 03:25 PM

yeah it's great

So Nostromo over The Number Twelve Looks Like You? Otherwise it's me and you in a grudge match.

Mondo Bungle 12-02-2016 03:40 PM

what if I did Nostromo for ATSS

The Batlord 12-02-2016 03:48 PM

My final compromise.

1. The Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity
2. Botch - We Are the Romans
3. Coalesce - Functioning on Impatience
4. Converge - Petitioning the Empty Sky
5. Genghis Tron - Board Up the House
6. Deadguy - Fixation on a Coworker
7. Ion Dissonance - Breathing Is Irrelevant
8. Knut - Challenger
9. Nostromo - Ecce Lex
10. Psyopus - Our Puzzling Encounters Considered

Mondo Bungle 12-02-2016 03:50 PM

let's do it then

Done.

Mondo Bungle 12-02-2016 04:17 PM

ight, vote off 4

1. The Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity
2. Botch - We Are the Romans
3. Coalesce - Functioning on Impatience
4. Converge - Petitioning the Empty Sky
5. Genghis Tron - Board Up the House
6. Deadguy - Fixation on a Coworker
7. Ion Dissonance - Breathing Is Irrelevant
8. Knut - Challenger
9. Nostromo - Ecce Lex
10. Psyopus - Our Puzzling Encounters Considered

let's say the votes come in and get counted by December 5

The Batlord 12-02-2016 04:25 PM

Give me till tomorrow to make my case for Psyopus and Coalesce. I've gotta be somewhere tonight, but I have opinions on those albums even though I agree on the artists. I say I like their debuts better btw. Not a deal breaker or anything, but I'm just talking about preference.

The Batlord 12-02-2016 04:26 PM

My four votes probably wouldn't include those albums though.

Mondo Bungle 12-02-2016 05:21 PM

Coalesce
Botch
Ion Dissonance
Psyopus

Tristan_Geoff 12-02-2016 10:27 PM

I gotta go listen to all these albums then. Will do so eventually.

Mondo Bungle 12-02-2016 10:34 PM

so you haven't heard a single one of those albums

Tristan_Geoff 12-02-2016 11:44 PM

I've heard exactly three. I've heard some songs off others. I know of half of them. Idk the the others.

The Batlord 12-03-2016 08:59 AM

Get on it, bitch.

Mondo Bungle 12-04-2016 02:05 PM

If this doesn't go down then I will declare Mongrel greatest mathcore album out of spite

Since I am mathcore authority

I have so much **** to do this week so I might not get around to it.

Mondo Bungle 12-04-2016 02:32 PM

I like how I made a new thread when there is absolutely no reason it couldn't gave just been included in the main Survivor thing

The Batlord 12-04-2016 03:38 PM

****, I completely forgot. I still got a couple albums to get to and a couple to refamiliarize myself with. Imma get back to you.

Mondo Bungle 12-04-2016 03:41 PM

I'll declare Knut the winner instead

The Batlord 12-04-2016 03:50 PM

You can declare deez Knuts the winner.

Mondo Bungle 12-04-2016 03:51 PM

I'ma Knut on your mom's face

Exo 12-04-2016 05:27 PM

Coalesce - Functioning on Impatience
Deadguy - Fixation on a Coworker
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity
Botch - We Are the Romans

We picked my least favorite Dillinger album unfortunately.

Mondo Bungle 12-04-2016 05:29 PM

It's not mine either but I think it's better for the battle. Still important

Aloysius 12-04-2016 10:58 PM

I'll vote if we get more time - I'd need another 4 days or so.

Mondo Bungle 12-05-2016 03:48 PM

It's very likely I wasn't going to adhere to any dates anyway

The Batlord 12-06-2016 01:14 PM

Dillinger Escape Plan
Knut
Coalesce
Botch

Mondo Bungle 12-06-2016 01:46 PM

homo

The Batlord 12-06-2016 02:04 PM

Mathcore isn't my favorite thing in the world tbh. Nostromo are easily my top pick cause they don't let wank get in the way of kicking ass.
