Default Is Green Day a band for kids and not for adults?

Should adult rock fans take this band seriously or not?
I always find their music and lyrics kiddish and I think GD is only a good band for kids up to 15 years old.

Bad taste in music knows no age limits.

First couple Green Day albums are good for what they are. They also have a strong nostalgic quality for me as I was 10-11 or so when I heard "Brain Stew" and "Basket Case" - pretty close to the first non-parent exposed music I heard. That said, they pretty much belong to that age.

The genre done right:

Their music is simplistic and they lyrically tend to be very angsty (is that the word?) a bit... Their demographic tends to be teenagers, so say what you will I guess.

Are we still talking about Greenday, or the music you listen to?
