The Batlord 05-03-2018 11:46 AM

I'm going through Changes right now and it's highly overrated.

You'd need them if the football team captain was after you!

I was this scrawny, short, pale kid with thick glasses and a super dorky look, but I could still effortlessly outrun anyone my age, even the kids that went to soccer practise every week and actually cared about sports.

These days I probably couldn't outrun anyone younger than me. I'd need to take a breather after the first two seconds of high intensity physical activity. I really need to exercise more!

Word. Like "why is such a great band doing this trite crap?"

MicShazam 05-03-2018 12:21 PM

I used to love that song, but I was mostly a metal head back then. It's not that great for a stripped down ballad type thing. Perhaps even a little lame.

I'm looking at a map and can't find a state or country called Bitch.

lol

I like how it ends. Being a fixture in the context of the end of a movie is probably the best thing that could ever happen to it.

Honestly, Sabbath have made plenty of crap. Iommi was an innovator, but not necessarily a great artist. Much less so for Ozzy.

I like them and they arguably revolutionized guitar music, but I wouldn't call them artistic geniuses. I think they just kind of stumbled on something unique and happened to have great chemistry.

Tony Iommi has played the same solos throughout his entire career. As someone who has listened to every single Sabbath album ever recorded, including that "The Devil You Know" album, I find it obvious that Iommi is a rather limited artist.

Mindfulness 05-03-2018 12:42 PM

01 - War Pigs
02 - Electric Funeral
03 - Supernaut
04 - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
05 - N.I.B.
06 - Snowblind
07 - Sweet Leaf
08 - Paranoid
09 - Into The Void
10 - Iron Man

Frownland 05-03-2018 12:42 PM

Their first six are the only ones that I care about.

Trollheart 05-03-2018 01:27 PM

So they're like every band.

So you think every band stumbles on something unique?

And I thought my bar was low.

It's true though. Name an artist who didn't stumble into their sound but invented it from the ground up.

How about the 99.9% of all bands ever who simply choose a predefined style to play without putting a single original thought into it?

Well, if we're not talking about artists that are innovative, then sure.
