Bruh, I'd save money just to have phat stacks of beer to get us through a month in seven days. It would be a thinly disguised bender.

A good example of my point is Greta Van Fleet, a band that has an extraordinary amount of energy but their songwriting and style is stunningly similar to Zep. There's only so much I can go on by just them being energetic because their music is just a stale rehashing of a much more musically diverse and creative band.
Greta Van Fleet does have a lot of energy and and sound to me like very passionate musicians, but their blatant copying of Zep makes them lack their own personality I would say. I think they have a lot of promise as a band, but owe too much to Zep currently. Where I draw the line is at blatant copying vs wearing your influences. Trivium is the only example I can think of off the top of my head of a band blatantly copying another as far as thrash goes.

I don't know how much sense I can make, but maybe I can put it this way: Vektor is a highly acclaimed modern thrash band, yet they owe a lot of their sound to bands like Slayer and Voivod. So on face value, what would make them stand out to you? For me, despite showing clear influences, they have their own personality to make them sound like Vektor. That's how I see it with a lot of bands.

I'm sorry, but I just don't understand this statement, especially with old bands. I see it a lot, sometimes with Metallica swapped with Slayer. With thrash being my favorite genre, I listen to hundreds of bands and very rarely have I ever thought that the band sounds a lot like early Metallica or Slayer. Here's a list of some of my favorite thrash bands, and not one of these sounds like another:

Helstar, Pantera, Anthrax, Overkill, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Testament, Death Angel, Holy Moses, Sacrilege, Living Death, Suicidal Tendencies, Exodus, Razor, Voivod, Sepultura, White Zombie, Jurassic Jade, Artillery, Havok, D.R.I., Assassin, Lååz Rockit, Deathwish, Annihilator, Scatterbrain, United, Wrathchild America, Yellow Machinegun

If I'm not making any sense, then I guess this is a reason as good as any that I love thrash so much.
