Default Metallica ...and justice for all

What up yall? first post here, and im sorry if this has already been discussed, but i didnt see a thread for it. The album in the thread title (Metallica ...and justice for all) seems to have a remixed version with Jasons bass guitar mixed in properly from the masters. Anyone know if this is just legend or does it exist? I already own 3 copies of it and dont want to buy a 4th if its just a cleaned up version without the bass guitar mixed in like it should have been from day 1. Thanks in advance!!

If you're thinking of the new official remaster, then don't expect to hear any more bass than on the original version. I don't think Metallica will ever back down on that. As far as I know, you will only ever hear Jason's bass clearly in a few of those tracks on Youtube remixed based Guitar Hero tracks, which means it's far from all of the album that even exists in that form.

The new official remaster sounds mostly indistinguishable from the original imo

Nah there's a fan remaster somewhere on Youtube with the bass mixed higher.

That's the guitar hero based remasters I'm referring to. There's several attempts. But I was of the impression that they do not have access to the separated instrument tracks for any tracks other than those that were available in guitar hero? I might be wrong.

Why wouldn't they have access to the tracks when they could just be burned from a CD?

Because on a CD, the bass track is not separated from the rest, so you'd have to use some rather crappy methods like simply boosting lower frequencies in Audacity in order to bring out the bass*. While if you actually have Jason's separated bass track next to drums tracks, guitar tracks, etc., you can mix the track down again with Jason's bass higher in the mix. The latter approach sounds way better, but requires something more than just the CD.

But maybe those separated instrumental tracks are available now. I just know that, back when people started trying to remix the album, not all songs had those separated instrumental tracks available.

*which is even harder to do well on that album than on most other albums since Hetfield's guitar covers so much of the same frequency area. Making it hard to bring out the bass without affecting the guitars.

the recording process includes separate tracks that came from each instrument and voice actually, theyre all called voices in the mixing process) which are "bounced" into a single stereo track which is what you find on a CD. The premixed tracks is what we are wanting so that the bass guitar slider can be pushed up 25% or so to make it an evenly mixed album. Ive heard of something called "...and justice for Jason" but its only on youtube and therefore cruddy quality

I don't really listen to the normal Justice anymore. It sounds so much better and heavier with the bass. Taking the bass out of Justice was one of the biggest mistakes Metallica ever made.
