whats your favorite song by The Offspring?

i have musical adhd and find myself jumping from band to band a lot, but i also find myself dwelling on a specific band for months at a time, currently its the offspring. What are your favorite tracks by them?

I like that one song of theirs. You know the one.

I still have love for Conspiracy of One and I guess this song is the phattest jam from that.

Mindfulness 01-09-2019 10:24 AM

that song rocked :yeah: ^^^

The Batlord 01-09-2019 10:26 AM

And I love how this literally sounds like Weird Al made a punk song.

Mindfulness 01-09-2019 10:27 AM

:yikes: thats weird Al himself... lol

song was good too :)

im a big fan of the entire album "Ignition" especially the first 10 seconds. After i heard the first 5 f bombs, i was like... "ok, this should be at the very least, interesting" from there i was hooked. Once they got super popular, i very much fell off, but now that they are not literally everywhere anymore, im back to blastin their stuff :)

I'm not sure what I would say is my definitive favorite, as I love all of their debut and several songs from the next few albums. Probably a tie between these two:

Some of the deep cuts off the Smash album. Can't remember any titles.

This is one of my favorites too, if only Americana had more songs closer to this:

totally agree with the first part but i never went back for them (you never know tho..)

kick him when he's down and gotta get away i think are my favorites

theRagman 01-11-2019 02:30 PM

"Pay the Man" is right up there at the top of the list.

"Self Esteem" is a close second, mostly because I think the guitar solo is cool. :)

kick him when hes down was one of the reasons i went back to that album. that and dirty magic. was feeling pretty down and they felt like the right songs to get that feeling out

yeah these 2 songs are good reasons to remember ignition. they have that 'sad thing' (dont have better words to describe it) wich worked for some later offspring songs too like gone away (good but kinda melodramatic)

on the other side of the spectrum i also like their ska moments (dont pick it up and what in the world happened to you?)

Nice to see an Offspring thread -
Agree on Original Prankster,
Gone Away is Must!

I always connect that with Social Distortion's I Was Wrong - not lyrically. Possibly, maybe, released around same time - but also something in sound.
Anyone else hear it?

Yeh...Social D. still around, touring and working on new album-amazing! I know Mike N. also took time and released solo work some years back, too. The early country classic is pushed more forward on those w/Mike N. snarls, but far less punk than the inimitable punkabilly of Social D. which I thought was such an unusual combination that ended up working really well!!

When you asked if still around I really wasn't sure, so I'm cutting and pasting a Consequence of Sound article; not sure if it'll work:

ziggywas 01-16-2019 01:52 PM

good! would love to see them live, een nowadays.
an album by mike ness that i heard back in 2000(?) was crap.but as you say thecow-punk combination is working (at least many times it does)
