Greatest Opening Riffs in Metal

Post the songs that open with only the purest fire riffs (it counts if it comes in after an intro).

Waltari - Get Stamped

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUGzmZsspTY

Opens with really fun riff that gets right into the action.

Dreaming Dead - Overlord

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2s3vltlM0o
Opens with a great thrash riff that continues into the verse.

Why don't you just comment on the riffs instead you fascist.

Nile - Evil to Cast Out Evil

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5pPjfDZL6A
Probably the best opening riff ever for Nile in this one.

As far as nerdy KMFDM goes it's okay I guess. The rest of the song just gets worse. How can you listen to that singer without gagging though?

By the time I discovered this band, I had years of training listening to Ozzy's solo albums, so it was an easy transition.

I honestly think this band is top tier death/thrash. I like their nuanced, moody thrash that sometimes gets a bit proggy and jazzy - and their drummer has lots of flair.

Ozzy at his worst still can't hold a candle to that dweeb.

If by that you mean bland af then yes.

The opening riff is actually pretty nice but not all that memorable or first rate. TBH Nile's death metal has always been not much more than serviceable and combining it with Egypt-y sounding stuff is definitely a gimmick even if it was an entertaining one, so if the band has decided to go techy melodic death metal or whatever that was then I'm not gonna be disappointed at a sound change. Still just kinda good but I'd be willing to check that album out. The vocalist still has no charisma though.

They've made 3 albums and I think 2 of them are downright great. They add something that's generally really missing in thrash and death metal - so that I'm suddenly able to really give a **** in the long term. I've been into the band for years. I even have a greeting on a post-it note from the singer/lead guitarist since they were manually packaging and shipping orders for their second album. Their third album was less interesting to me since it was more about constant speed.

I like Nile, but don't love them. Their best albums have a lot of guitar playing and drumming that keeps me entertained, but the vocals are largely dispensable.

TBH Karl Sanders' solo stuff is better than Nile. All the fun Egypt-y stuff without having to pretend that it makes sense to juxtapose it with brutal death metal.
