Default Mamaleek (experimental black metal band, definitely worth a listen)

This band definitely deserves some attention.

Mamaleek are an experimental black metal duo from San Francisco comprised of two brothers who currently remain anonymous.

As I said, they make experimental black metal with influences ranging from jazz to middle eastern music. They also have a lot of their music under a layer of shoegaze-esque fuzz which I like.

I really like this music and I normally hate black metal.

Samples (quite abrasive to the ear):

I really love the drum work and energetic guitar melody on the first one and and the contrast between the fluttery piano and harsh guitar tones on the second track is just sublime.

I went and picked this up some time last week and only checked out the first track before I got sidetracked. With the attention you're giving it, I'll make sure I give the album a suitable listen.

It was a free album, right? I don't remember but wanted to clarify for those interested... I believe it was free.

It's free yeah

There was a vinyl version released in quite limited quantities but other than that, free dowload is the only way to get it.

Here's the dowload from the label's website

Easily one of the most inventive metal bands around, they transcend genre. They've got that special sauce that makes everything they touch turn to very much their own brand of gold, sort of like a black metal descendant of This Heat. Their last two albums (Out of Time and Come and See) have really rocked my world by how all over the place they were and how well they pull off every direction they explore. Strong lyrics too (though tough to make out at times). Worth your time and mine.
