They straight up stole "Bang a Gong Get It On" though.

I think that's the accusation, but Britpop in general is influenced by mid-late period Beatles anyway.

True, but even the Mighty Fall straight up ripped some songs from other artists.

They definitely wore that influence on their sleeve and they'd never shut up about the Beatles either. They even got Ringo's kid to drum on their last album. Could be why they're criticized so much for it.

Sacha Baron Cohen's story is a good example.

They name check the Beatles so much in their songs, it gets kinda obnoxious, and I'm a fan of Oasis.

There's a few:

What kills me though, is that the older I get, the more I realize a lot of music is just an incremental shift from what's come before. Generally speaking, the music that's the most innovative is just sitting at the intersection of 3 influences. But it's nonetheless moving the needle slightly. It's just harder to hang it on one band.

I do? I think I know two songs by them. Where'd this come from?

Those are different bands. And the unplugged version of Counting Blue Cars is a masterpiece!

I still don't know what any of this has to do with Oasis.

And I'll bet you have a copy of Matchbox 20's first album you bought when it came out.

No, but for the sake of Musicbanter, we can set up a Discord session where you just grill me on my **** music taste, and record it for youtube.
