Metal Wars 2022 - Metal Wars Resurrected!
 

I was reading a post by my old friend Unknown Soldier today (anyone know what happened to him?) and in his sig was a link to his thread "Metal Wars!" I see someone tried to revive it in 2016 and it staggered on for a few posts then died.

So I thought I'd have a shot at bringing it back too.

But as it's over 100 pages and I have no intention of going through all of that, I'm starting over. The credit will always go to him, and the thread will be in honour to and memory of him, but in essence we're starting with a clean slate.

I'm sure everyone knows how it works, if not please insert brain. Or check the original thread here Metal Wars!

I don't know quite what his criteria were for winning, if any, but I'd suggest once one album has a lead of five or more points on its opponent it's declared the winner and we move on.

So, who'd like to suggest the first two albums to face off against each other?

Thanks Batty. I'll need some time to listen to both, so will vote tomorrow. Think I've heard Autopsy during one of the Metal Months, but not sure. Either way, I'll need to listen to it again.

Nah, Batty got in first. We can only do one battle at a time, Hitler learned the lesson of fighting on several fronts at once. If you want to leave yours there, we can look at it for the second battle.

Note: do NOT vote on Norg's battle yet. We need this to have some sort of structure if it's to come back from the dead (and incidentally, Batty, I don't know if it was intentional, but if so, choosing two bands, both of whose names refer to death? Genius!) :)

Assuming anyone gives a shit, which at the moment... well, early days yet, but as me ma used to say, it's not exactly like ten were killed in the rush!

I've never managed to care that much about Autopsy even if I can respect them, but Cause of Death is a foundational death metal album for me. It's so heavy and ugly and John Tardy is such a perfect death metal vocalist that I don't even care if he's too high in the mix.
