That's who I always thought it was. Not exactly representitive of the forum's tastes.

Phish is amazing. Their studio stuff can get you hooked, but the greatness of their compositions & improv is really apparent when you start listening to live shows - especially when you get really hooked and try to collect the thousands of shows they've played. Some people don't like their goofy style (i'd just call it fun) though, but most just haven't actually listened to the actual music.

They're definitely a band to check out - get Junta, Lawn Boy, Picture of Nectar, Lawn Boy and some of the live shows. Their music is so varied that you'll probably find something you like. Phish is at their best playing live.

the live clips that cycle on the main-page banner at phish.com have been amusing me tonight ... the first 3 or so were just instrumental groove/space jams from the middle of who knows what tune, very cool ... I changed sites when they started singing!

I'm surprised a thread on Phish only has 2 pages.

I saw them this summer they headlined twice at bonnaroo and both shows were great. The highlight had to be when springsteen came onstage to play with them. The whole crowd just went nuts and I'm sure half of them had no idea who springsteen was.

Has anybody listened to Joy yet? I actually just downloaded but my wife is in bed already and I don't feel right playing fish at a whisper.

And does anybody know what album their cover of White Rabbit is on? Except they say eat your Freds instead of feed your head? I've been asking random people forever and they all just look at me like I'm crazy.

I wrnt to a Halloween show many years ago @ Lake placid where they played The Beatles White album in it's entirety. Of course, I remember absolutely nothing but colors and shapes.
