The Rolling Stones is one of the best I've ever heard and honestly I'd choose the Stones over the Beatles any day. I love Gimme Shelter when Merry Clayton goes really high at 3:00 and you can hear Mick in the background. It always seems like they only need to go in and record it once and it's done perfectly.
Beast of Burden is always a good tune too.

I think the Stones' Rip This Joint is the greatest rock-n-roll song of all time.

This song features absolutely blazing piano along with fantastic horns and a primitive rock-n-roll rhythm that makes you wanna get up and dance. The lyrics are a joyous celebration of being a rock-n-roll band criss crossing America.

The sound is straight up rock-n-roll with no need for a sub-category. It's not punk or heavy metal or pre or post anything. I favor the 1950s over all other decades of rock-n-roll but this track from 1972 (I think) stands out as the masterpiece of the genre.

For some strange reason I love The Beatles too.
Keef is da man, though- "Exile" is pure magic.

Ditto. I never got into the Beatles, they were too...I don't know, pop music-like. Gimme Shelter is one of my favourite tracks solely because of the introduction. Throw in some Angie, Ruby Tuesday, Wild Horses, Paint It Black, You Can't Always Get What You Want and I'm eargasming.

I was meaning it in a light-hearted way, I was pretty sure you wouldn't get it but it was worth a shot. Sometimes you need to let things go though Big3, particularly if an off-topic was well meaning.
