Any One Like REO Speedwagon?

speedwagon is probly one of my favorite groups, good balld writers, and good guitar players.

boo boo 06-07-2006 08:10 PM

I hate REO Speedwagon with a burning passion, but i can understand that some people like the syrupy ballad stuff... I love ballads, as long as don't find them to be unbelievably corny, annoying and cliche, and many ballads can be that way... I pretty much like most/all Zeppelin and Beatles ballads.. I dislike the standard AOR fluff like Journey, Foreigner and especially REO Speedwagon, but heh, whatever floats your boat man.

Juggalo4life88 06-07-2006 08:11 PM

Gotta love em'! They made some good music.

ZeppelinAir 06-07-2006 08:12 PM

beatles that is somthing i dont like, rather squish em

Juggalo4life88 06-07-2006 08:14 PM

Foreigner, Journey, and REO are all good bands. It's just a matter of taste. Me, personally, like them.

boo boo 06-07-2006 08:15 PM

Um.... Someone who likes REO Speedwagon but hates The Beatles.

Well, i guess that isn't too far fetched on this forum.

ZeppelinAir 06-07-2006 08:19 PM

nothing is too far fetched on the forums.

boo boo 06-07-2006 08:31 PM

I know a guy who hates AC/DC but likes Poison, so yes, pretty much.

MURDER JUNKIE 06-07-2006 11:30 PM

Take It On The Run is one of my all time faves

jr. 06-07-2006 11:35 PM

I have a soft spot for Hi Infidelity. I was 17-18 years old. Great record. Takes me back to a good time in my life. Don't Let Him Go, Tough Boys, Take It On The Run, Keep On Lovin' You.

I also own their Greatest Hit. Ridin' The Storm Out, Roll With The Changes, Keep Pushin'. All good songs.

Kevin Cronin is one of the goofiest frontmen ever, though.

stakeraiser 06-08-2006 10:55 AM

fun guilty pleasure once in a while

Hysteria xx 06-13-2006 12:08 AM

LukeM_UK 06-13-2006 09:33 AM

I love REO Speedwagon. My favourite songs of theirs are:

"Keep On Lovin' You" (live - approx. 2001)
"Take It On The Run"
& "Can't Fight This Feeling"

explosions-in-my-pants 06-13-2006 10:02 AM

Yes, but Elton John's over-the-top look was done with tongue frimly planted in cheek. Elton knew he was acting goofy. Kevin Cronin actually thought he was being cool. LOL.

Thanks LukeM_UK, mine came from a juggalo site called juggalosforlife@msngroups.com. It was an animation there and I had only had the pics of one Jeckyl brother, now I have both of them......Jake & Jack Jeckyl. Glad you like it, I don't know why it is so big, but I am glad it is.

good point, even still looks shouldn't sell the music.. but hey it didn't, and then came mtv, and everyother music channel, and then the looks were the only thing selling it... **** being awesome live, and having a good sound.. a nice few of the 70;s bands couldn't make it in the 80's because of the video's.. videos really did kill the radio star.:(

Do I Love REO?

Let's see... HiInfidelity came out when I was in 9th grade, a pivotal year for my musical growth. It was probably my favorite album of that year. I still love that album, after all these years. At that point in time, I collected most of their previous albums, which went back to the very early 70's. They had some great music. I think Good Trouble was their last really good album, and that they became consumed with the fame of their "power ballads". "I can't Fight This Feelin'" will go down in music history as one of the sappiest ballads ever to be released to Top 40 radio... and I will always consider it the downfall of REO Speedwagon.

Dude111 05-03-2018 01:58 AM

I used to love that album but I dislike it now..... (Hi infidelity (1980))

I have these records:

THIER FIRST ALBUM - 1971 (They made a mistake getting rid of Terry,THE SECOND ALBUM IS CRAP!! (Which is basically a continuation of the first))

4th Album - LOST IN A DREAM - 1974

5th album - THIS TIME WE MEAN IT - 1975

6th album - R.E.O. - 1976

11th album - Wheels Are Turnin' - 1984 (I also have this on cassette)

I dont anything after thier 1984 album.......

Chula Vista 05-03-2018 10:04 AM

Gary Richrath was a really good rock guitarist with amazing tone. Listen to the solo on Take it on the Run.

Dude111 05-03-2018 02:36 PM

Ya he does pretty good all thru thier years :)

Oriphiel 05-03-2018 05:42 PM

Rob Halford may have fucked a lot of guys in his day, but opening for REO Speedwagon was definitely the gayest thing he ever did.

Paul Smeenus 05-03-2018 07:06 PM

I call them REO Speedboredom.

Neapolitan 05-03-2018 07:19 PM

Wow! Today I just found out that Can't Fight This Feeling was by REO Speedwagon. I swore it was by Air Supply - considered my mind blown. I almost always hear that song whenever I'm in a grocery or department store. Never listen to one of their albums ever. So I had to check them out on YouTube. Any album suggestions? The lead singer looks like Geddy Lee's younger brother. Is he?

REO Speedwagon - Can't Fight This Feeling

Dude111 05-04-2018 01:35 AM

Hmmmmmm could be!!

uncle salty 05-06-2018 06:41 AM

I like them enough to have The Hits.

And for purely nostalgic reasons, Hi Infidelity

In the summer of 81, you could not escape that album.

Black Francis 05-10-2018 09:15 PM

Hmm. Not sure if split personality or twins. Hmmm.

Dewey Oxburger 06-25-2018 03:56 AM

their first 3 albums are great

peavey_hermann 12-14-2018 02:41 PM

I saw the Get What You Play For tour from the front row, about 1977 or so

Richrath with that les paul right in front of me, doing that Golden Country thing and the Flying Turkey Trot. What a player.

Rush opened, touring 2112 and Blue Oyster cult headlined, touring agents of fortune... Buck pretty much schooled everybody that night

But yeah REO was very good.
