I lived through it. LOL. It's what I grew up with and cut my rock and roll teeth on.
I think my favorites are probably:

Aerosmith (the original, gritty Aerosmith. Not that crap they've been putting out since 87 or so)

Ted Nugent. Nothing fancy or innovative. Straight, smash mouth rock and roll.

Queen. Consistently quality music over a long period of time. Freddie Mercury was probably the best front man ever, IMO. They truly paid attention to the music. It was creative, full of energy, and very innovative. They never just hit big power chords and whatnot. They didn't waste any space on their albums.

Thin Lizzy. One of the most under-rated bands ever. Either you like them, or you know 'The Boys are Back in Town'. LOL.

One of the great things about classic rock is the quality of the music, sustained over a long period of time. I hate to sound like an old geezer (which I'm sure everyone thinks I am LOL), but I remember in the 70's, we had AM radio, and you could just leave one station on, and get good songs, one after another, with the occasional crap song.

Now, you constantly flip the stations to find the occasional good song.
