I didn't say you liked Jet at all, but if we are going to attack bands like ACDC might as well throw Jet in there too... totally the same sound.
Unfortunately in this world people enjoy catchy music that you don't have to think about... And ACDC's lyrics and music may not be like too in depth but its pleasing and fun to listen to. Not all bands can be like Pink Floyd or Radiohead where the music is so intricate and engineered that all you think about is "wow this is so amazing, how did they do this?" Then when its said and done the song is over and you didn't really hear any of it. Its nice to rock out to bands that make you want to party and have a good time, and that is exactly what ACDC and bands who use that tactic do. |

Sorry, I just find that I can listen to Pink Floyd for a lot longer before it gets repetitave and boring than I can listen to ACDC.

Sometimes, just sometimes, the arguments that take place here make me want to throw up and walk away.
Pink Floyd is not nearly as jesus-like as everyone here suggests and Ac/Dc shouldn't be taken for the idiot-joke everyone usually does. Everything is in such extreames, and they get that way because you rush past the important things and are too quick to defend. if Ac/Dc was so easy and simple, why were they the first ones to come up with it? Why are their imitators such a pale imitation at best and why does their music endure more powerfully than the pretention and scale riding that came with their peers? The answer is not that "people are stupid and like simple things" and if you can't come up with another answer thats logical then you're missing larger things and I might dare suggest that you don't understand music, and certainly don't understand rock music.

Anyway, AC/DC was the band that made me listen to rock. I don't like anything after BnB. Bon Scott was a great writer, regardless of the music, he wrote good songs; and better Blues songs. You complain about the repetitiveness of AC/DC but, apparently, fail to see that ALL of the music they play is simple, basic, overdriven Blues with the lyrics to match. THAT'S ALL. They aren't amazingly talented, they aren't the best at composing or layering music; and they admit this. Angus said himself "We've produced several albums, 10 tracks and each one sounding the same. They sell, why change it?" You want to hear truly repetitive music? Listen to Robert Johnson, Skip James, John Lee Hooker ect. Seriously, almost all of the songs sound exactly the same; because they are. AC/DC isn't something you'd listen to while pondering the secrets of the universe, it's what you listen to while getting wasted and having sex. Simple as that. |
