Bruce Springsteen Neil Young & Sting are my favorite solo musicians/songwriters.

Neil Young's Live at the Fillmore East is probably my favorite live album of all time. The extended "Cowgirl in the Sand" rocks.

Saw Neil last night in Richmond. Awesome concert! I'm not sure what was better play his older catalog or Le Noise (great album)!

Start with Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush", then "Harvest", then Buffalo Springfield collections, then CSNY (Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young) collections. I loved all of them, they are such talented musicians who are multi-dimensional and true to the spirit of human kind. I feel so involved listening to their music...

What's great about this is that everything is well crafted to the best in every song, the melody, lyrics, vocal, music arrangement, instrument setting, all I hear is heaven.

Now I'm going to fish out for more collections and perhaps solos of CSNY, too.

Question: the version of "Crosby, Stills & Nash" I had is the remastered version by Joe Gastwirt at Ocean View Digital in 1994 is NOT good. Is the version of Rhino Records in 2006 any good?

Jimmy Fallon has done this a few times, but having David Crosby and Graham Nash makes it even cooler.

I am the only person who thinks Tonight's the night is one of the most honest and heart felt albums ever recorded?

(random fleeting thought)

I think it was Randy Newman who said Neil Young's lyrics don't hold up to analysis because they're very basic and just word rhyming but when you hear his voice and guitar it just works. I mean lyrically he doesn't hold a candle to Dylan, Cohen, Newman and Mitchell but his style just works. One of the best artists to come out of the 60's rock 'n' roll era.

Is it only me, or Neil Young is a better music-writer than Bob Dylan? As a lyricist it's clear that Dylan is the greatest ever, but when it comes to the musical part, I think that Young is a little better than him. For me they are like Michael Jackson and Prince - you can't mention the one without thinking of the another one.
