i think its mostly bad luck, they claimed their turntables only go forwards and they went to the studio and confirmed this. its sad that so many people dont like this awesome song because of that...

Backmasking is stupid, who the hell makes music for their fans to play it backwards? Led Zeppelin is a great band and Stairway is a great song, all this satanic bull**** really gives them an unnecessary bad name. >_>

I think it's all bullshit. Because it's the way the mind works. if someone TELLS you it sounds like satan when played backwards, your brain finds patterns in the nonsense and makes you believe you are hearing it say shit about satan, if you had listened to it backwards without any prior knowledge about it being played backwards, you would probably hear something else, or nothing at all.

true, but Plant's voice also sounds different in parts where the main satanic lyrics supposedly are, when he sings the section with mayqueen in it

he sings mayqueen, and the end of the line before that differently. whether or not that was for the purpose of backmasking, i don't know, but his voice is different.
