I would probably go, as follows...

1. Solo
2. Cream
3. Blind Faith
4. Derek and the Dominos

But that may change...

Jesus, I completely forgot about Blind Faith. Have an album by them, or my grandfather does, I dunno, we switch off sometimes. But it's honestly one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. He bought it at Last Vestige (lovely wee record shop down this way that smells like 1971 and is packed with vinyl, rare CDs and tapes, films, etc), and on the cover it says, "NOT AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE", as a sticker. I think it's a very well-cut bootleg that someone dropped off in the used donation box, ha.

I like him just as solo as compared to all his bands

The Allman Brothers band FTW.

No love for the Yardbirds?

1. Cream
2. Yardbirds
3. Derek & the Dominoes
4. John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers
5. Blind Faith

Eric Clapton is a bit too religious for my liking, but Cream is a pretty good band, so I'll go with that.

Double X 09-04-2008 05:00 PM

I'm not that religious, but religion can inspire great music (with the exception of any christian band). George Harrison's solo album was inspired by his love for god and it was brilliant.

Eric Clapton solo is pretty damn awful stuff. There was the odd exception. 461 Ocean Boulevard had it's moments and the mammoth 'Crossroads' boxset had some early gems tucked away but he certainly seemed to slip into bland mediocrity early on in his solo career. Shame as he is a good guitarist but a boring songwriter.
