Heat Three: Battle of the Bands

Talking Heads:

With a very extensive and incredibly acclaimed discography Talking Heads have developed themselves as one of the more versatile non-prog outfits of the mid to late seventies. Check Out anything by them, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be good.

Big Brother and the Holding Company:

Check out the 1968 recording Cheap Thrills the rest of their stuff doesn’t compare, but this album is brilliant, make sure to check it out before you vote.

Yes:

Before Owner of a Lonely Heart Yes was nothing more than a simple, if brilliant progressive rock band, with the flamboyance of Rick Wakeman (at times) and the beautiful vocal stylings of Jon Anderson. I’ve always preferred Fragile over the rest of their work but there’s so much good stuff.

Roxy Music:

One of the big Glam rock bands of the early to mid seventies roxy music has established itself firmly in the history of music development. Check out For Your Pleasure.

Steely Dan:

Check out any of their early work, brilliant jazz influenced rock.

My vote goes to Steely Dan. "Aja" is an absolute masterpiece, and "Reelin' In The Years" is also good.

I'm going yes simply because I can.

After much thought with ummings and arrings, and stroking of ones beard, I went with Roxy Music, just for their early 70s output

I have just got hold of Cheap Thrills so I will reserve judgment for now.

A backlog of approx 75 albums will delay it slightly!
