Yep, I suspect Wishbone Ash were actually at their best as a live band, Chillie. Good choice!

No-one has yet mentioned a combination that was popular back in the day:a double album with one live disc and one studio disc. Everyone's too scared of U Soldier's purist scorn I suppose

Not really a live album connoisseur myself, but my favorites would be two that have already been mentioned, Live at Folsom Prison- Johnny Cash, and the Who- Live at Leeds.
