Best classic rock hidden gems

Left Banke's complete Mercury collection was among one of my most played discs a long time back, and even beyond that first album they had some fine sides. Too precious sounding, but when it worked, it was very fine.

Oddly enough, as it may be the label they were on, when think of Left Banke, I always think of The Blues Magoos' and 3'rd album Basic. Not everything worked, but it had some good singles ("There She Goes," "I Wanna Be There"). Garage Psych Pop they turned into, and moving into the bargain bins fast as things went "Heavy" in the music scene, but it was a good try most of the time.

Sadly, to me, it seemed that he was too Pop for Rock audiences hopped up on "serious" FM Rock and too Rock for the MOR Hit Radio of the day. When he finally got a foot though that door, the songs started to lack that spark after that. The Slider did well in The States but only briefly, and as a follow up to a breakthough album in The US, it was not a strong one in my opinion.

I actually really like The Beau Brummels, if they've not been mentioned. Their album Triangle is actually one of my favorite albums of the 1960s.

UFO been mentioned yet? Triumph, Vardis, Montrose, Queen's first 2 albums are awesome and different to their mainstream stuff. Roy Wood's Helicopter too. All off the top of my head. String Driven Thing, man there are so many. Budgie. Can. Little Feat. SAHB, with and without Alex.

I have to agree. Although I still have to check out Bradley's Barn (1968), what I have heard from it was very good.

From '68, The Seeds Raw and Alive has been something I wanted to check out, but the single "Satisfy You" seriously is one of my favorites.

One of the most under-rated gems from MC5, a slightly different version than what wound up on their (my opinion) most focused album, the all mighty High Time...which sadly was their last. Excellent stuff!
