Who wants to talk about 1950s rock-n-roll?

As a kid in the 1970s I loved oldies radio which played the heck out of the first era of rock-n-roll. Many years later I discovered that my musical taste had taken me all the way back to that era.

Every moment I listen to 1950s rock-n-roll makes me feel like I've got a hot rod car and it's saturday night and I'm taking my baby out dancing. It's weird but I stay young by listening to 50+ year old music!

Who are some of your favorite early rockers?

Favorite early rock-n-roll songs?

Who are your favorite bands of today that have that early rock-n-roll sound or spirit?

^ Of the guys you mention, it was Chuck Berry that I liked. I remember buying the singles, No Particular Place To Go, and the one that really got me hooked, Memphis Tennessee. Back then, I fell in love with the guitar sound, but what I admire today about Memphis T. is that it`s a song that tells a story, without any chorus or repeated lines. Don`t know how many songs that can be said of, but Bob Dylan`s Isis would be one of them.

I guess Status Quo built their reputation on reviving a good old-time rock and roll sound, although they are not exactly "of today" either.

Chuck Berry created guitar riffs that are still used today although he just adapted existing blues riffs.
Little Richard recorded some exciting music.
Elvis popularized black music.
