Default Boston thread
With an MIT graduate as a guitarist and one of the best selling debut albums in the history of rock and roll, Boston is a permanent ficture in American music history. Will the tragic loss of Brad Delp imede their musical prowess on the 2012 North American tour announced by Scholz? Will the band be able to set aside their differences and hold it together for the length of the tour?

Generally, what do you think of Boston?

Love Boston. Great band, very honest. The debut s/t is a classic, and although I couldn't really get into "Don't look back", I was blown away by "Third stage". Have the other albums but have yet to listen to them. The loss of Brad was huge for Boston, and for the rock community at large: it'll be a long time before we hear a singer with that sort of register again. But Boston will plow on, not in spite of him, but in his memory, and to honour him.

Their debut was the first LP I bought, a long time ago when it first came out in the late 70's. I also had DLB, which imo built off of Scholz's studio prowess, but didn't quite deliver like the first, but still has stunning qualities to it.

As Trollheart has said, their debut is an absolute classic with its fusion of AOR and rock n roll, was never a big fan of Don't Look Back but Third Stage is a stunner a great favourite of mine. The fourth Walk On is a poor album and Corporate America just terrible. The last two don't even have Brad Delp on vox, that job went to Fran Cosmo.

i'd take them over stuff like television (the group, not the idiot box) and the modern lovers anyday

Their debut is one of my favorite albums. I'm glad people here seem to love it, it seems like it gets a lot of flack elsewhere on the internets.
