All those bands were great in the context of that era.

I wish I was in a ****ty context so more people would like my music.

The was the peak for a arena rock in the US. All of those bands were selling out nationwide tours of arenas. I saw Kansas at the sold out Boston Garden back in 79-79 and it was great. Huge light show, tons of effects, and the band brought it live.

I can respect stage presence because seeing a band live if they have great stage presence and listening to their albums can be as big of a difference as having sex and watching porn. I'm still not a fan of their music though, that's hard for me to overcome even at a live show. F. Ex I saw The Tubes because they played the fair for free. They put on a great show but their music still sucked. I left early.

It would be great if you also happened to have seen Boston in Kansas.

'79 was the Kansas/Monolith tour, they had fallen way downhill by then. I saw every tour between Masque to AudioVisions tour, '73 to '80, they were better earlier than later although by the mid '80's I'd completely lost interest. They were competent. Like a lot of bands, however, some held up better than others IMO.

Songwriting and album sales wise but they were great performing the show I caught. Harmonies were tight and they jammed like crazy.
