Cosmo's Factory is probably a good start. It has a couple of long rambling tracks that get you in the mood and also some of their greatest hits.

The CCR compilation "The Chronicle" Vol. 1 is a great introduction, though it doesn't have Born on the Bayou for some reason.

I love 'em

You can start with Cosmo's Factory or Bayou Country. Those are my two favorites. Pendulum is great to. The first album I bought by CCR was Green River, that's good, but not their best one.

I love their whole thing. Strange that they're from San Francisco. Sounds like some Louisiana shit.

I'm converted. Never thought i'd like them as i'm not big on country-blues stuff but these songs are infectious. Not big on the cover of Heard it on the Grapevine but thats the only place i can fault them. Maybe i'll make some white russians.

John Fogerty is one talented guy. You have to admire the guy for being able to sing like he does AND play lead guitar like a freakin wizard at the same time. I saw him do a concert on t.v. recently and he was jumpin around and going crazy like he was 20. Alot of artists tend to just not care when they get older but he put on a great performance. I would love to really see him concert.

Green River has to be my favorite.

"Well, take me back down where cool water flows, yeah.
Let me remember things I love,
Stoppin at the log where catfish bite,
Walkin along the river road at night,
Barefoot girls dancin in the moonlight.

I can hear the bullfrog callin me.
Wonder if my ropes still hangin to the tree.
Love to kick my feet way down the shallow water.
Shoefly, dragonfly, get back to your mother.
Pick up a flat rock, skip it across green river.
Welllllll!

Up at codys camp I spent my days, oh,
With flat car riders and cross-tie walkers
. old cody, junior took me over,
Said, youre gonna find the world is smouldrin.
And if you get lost come on home to green river.

Welllllll!
Come on home."

what amazing lyrics. any kid like me who has grown up near a river can relate to the song.

I'm the only one who doesn't completely love their version of "Heard It Through the Grapevine" for some reason. Odd.

Though "I'll Put a Spell On You" is brilliant.

(by the way, one of my favorite bands.)

EDIT: Didn't read it before, but Piss Me Off apparently agrees with me... :D
