Help identify the mystery 1950/60s instrumental rock!!!! :)
 

Hello Folks!

Kevin here. I just joined the club, so please pardon if i posted this thread on wrong location.

I have this great instrumental rock song that I am trying very hard to figure out who the artist is and the name of the track. I first heard it back in late 70s when I was 10 years old, but then I never heard it again, until i came across it recently. I have transferred it digitally, compressed it to a small file & would like to post it up here so you all can listen to it, but the website does not let me upload music files. Am I not allowed to do that? Or am I missing something here?

I have looked up most of the Instrumental Rock bands from 1950s & 60s such as 'The Ventures', 'The Champs', 'The Shadows' etc, but I still am not able to figure this one out. :( If any of you experts can help me solve the mystery, I would highly appreciate it. Thanks! :)

Thanks for the response. Well, whether it is a soundtrack or not, I am pretty sure this track was released on Vinyl as a 45 RPM single. When I was a kid, I remember this record was being played on a turntable at an event, where a number of other rock instrumentals were also played, such as 'Memphis' By Lonnie Mack, 'Apache' by The shadows, 'Tequila' by The Champs, etc.

Since the lead guitar on this song had that 'tremolo' sound, I thought, perhaps it was by 'The Shadows' because the lead guitarist Hank Marvin used a lot of that signature tremolo effect in his songs. In fact, I think, this song resembled 'Apache' - their 1960s instrumental hit. I dug out everything I could on 'The Shadows', but nothing yet! :(

The tune is much more primitive than most of the tracks by The Shadows. I'm guessing it was by a band who may have been well known at the time but have slipped into obscurity.

The version i posted here is indeed poor quality because it was transferred from an audio cassette with (damaged) warped tape. Believe it or not, I was soooo thrilled even to find this one! I literally jumped and listened to the digital transfer all day! Ha Ha.

I know Shads and it doesn't sound like them. I know what you mean by Hank using the tremolo (Fender nomenclature for vibrato), but they only used it briefly in the beginning.

In my opinion they sound like a cross between The Ventures and Johnny and the Hurricanes. I'm not saying either are it. Just that the guitar style reminds me of The Ventures, and then there is a sax which reminds me of Johnny & the Hurricanes. Maybe that band was from the West Coast, the same time they were.

I thought it might be by Pat and Lolly Vegas. They were studio musicians, and did an intstrumental album as The Deuce Coupes. Another band your band sounds close to are The Rumblers. They have a sax and uses sound fx's which your mystery song has. I not positively identifying them, just trying to figure out who they sound like.
