As a moderator AND physics teacher/former maths tutor I promise I will keep a stern eye on the kids here and assign them one maths exercise for each created thread

It's "Math". Do you also teach Englishs or how about Musics and Healths?

Marie Monday 01-14-2021 10:03 AM

It's pluralis majestatis, because maths rules

Plankton 01-14-2021 10:09 AM

Just sounds funny to me is all. lol

Like when people use "An historic event". It just sounds off.

Know what else grinds my gears? Low oil.

Cool, we're learning how to calculate the value of x in the following expression: x+3=7
I think I prefer to post threads here instead of solving such a difficult operation.

ah to be young and just embarking on the adventurous path that is maths

I love Maths, by the way, it's the only subject I'm really good at.

That's not difficult. X is 12 obviously.

It is a shame the era fizzled out. Hunter S Thompsons passage about it always makes me feel a bit sad.
The 1980s Acid wave revived the love a bit but since then the world has been a bit too me, myself and I for me.

I went with White Rabbit but I probably would think of Strawberry Fields Forever first.

Also, did anyone mention I Had Too Much To Dream (last night) by the Electric Prunes?

I can't believe I never replied to this thread.

Lots of good candidates, but I'm going to go with this, especially on account of the lyrics.

We are forces of chaos and anarchy
Everything they say we are, we are
And we are very proud of ourselves

Same here.

This song might not be the quintessential hippie song. However it's a song that I associate with Woodstock -- especially its laid-back rural theme. It's anthmeic in its own subtle way.

The two obvious ones for me are San Francisco and All You Need is Love. Both are spreading the hippie message overtly in a way the others are not.

Since I could only vote for one, I reluctantly chose the Beatles one because it's a little more universal. The Scott MacKenzie seems to relate particularly to the USA, although I know it was embraced by young people worldwide. For example it was No. 1 for eight weeks in a row in Melbourne. I don't think All You Need Is Love was on top for quite that long.

Plankton 08-24-2021 07:59 AM

I'll throw this one on the pile too.

Donovan was known as something of a flower child in the sixties. Maybe this one could have been considered.
