Here's my problem. I find myself listening to too much Tool and too little of anything else. What would you suggest that goes along the lines? I've already discovered Riverside and Porcupine Tree.

Recording guitar to a mac, high quality but cheap

Howdy. So I have a mac mini, and plugging in my active bass guitar to my mac's microphone input doesn't quite do it. In fact, it makes an extremely distorted noise when I hook it up to garageband....

Yes, the 5 string bases that I have tried had strings that were rather close together, then I had to rest my thumb on the B string which wasn't optimal for my enjoyment.
