I voted Kansas. But I was close to voting Foreigner or Styx. All three of the bands aforementioned made music without sufficiently distinctive melodies, in my opinion.

Aside from the Beatles, my favourite British Invasion band - at that time (ca. 1964) was The Dave Clark Five. They had lots of melodic, up-tempo songs. The kind of songs I liked.
