the only downside is it doesnt come with any virtual instrument sounds except for one synth/pad

i use reaper because i love the simplicity behind it
i purchase plugins from waves, eventide, ik multimedia you name it but as far as DAW goes i stick...

I agree that pro tools is a little bit...

I agree that pro tools is a little bit complicated and in my opinion overpriced. i personally use reaper which actually has more midi capabilities than pro tools. DAW choice is really all preference...

Knowing and understanding music is the first step. Learn to play as many instruments as you can because at some point your going to use all of them as a producer. I've been doing it for about 3 years...
