Do you like horror movies? It's just the musical equivalent of horror movies. I'm sure most of the musicians don't take it particularly seriously and neither do most of the fans.

I think you may have missed what I was getting at with my post. Being shocking and brutal is pretty central to what death metal is about as a genre, the names reflect that. That's all there is to it....
