I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I'm with you on KEA being the most stripped down Metallica album but definitely disagree with you about it being particularly heavy.

I think Slayer's heaviness comes from their sense of rhythm, the backbone of which is Dave Lombardo. The way everything else locks in with what he's playing is what makes them so damn heavy....

I could not disagree more. I've always found KEA to have a very thin sound, less heavy than all their other 80s albums and possibly even less heavy than most of the black album. Definitely not on par...
