I assume he means that less variety of people and perspectives involved in a given genre is likely to lead to less innovation.

That's the thing though, I find his production incredibly dull and his hooks to be nonexistent. I'm utterly mystified by his popularity and by the idea that he'd be easy to listen to for anyone.
