No, ze/zer are just pronouns. "Nonbinary" is the gender marker.

Yes, it's used as a pronoun, not an identity. Here in California medical documents largely include nonbinary as a gender selection, and soon it will be an available option on id's and birth...

We use they and them in the singular form...
