Meh, if you're gonna go the Mario Kart route, just get Mario Kart Wii. You can play it with the Gamecube controller if you want.

Metroid Prime is pretty much a first person...

Metroid Prime is pretty much a first person shooter version of the original Metroid games but with a lot of puzzles and stuff. Boss battles are pretty epic.

I would tell you to get Metroid Prime, but since you already have the Wii, you should just get Metroid Prime 3. It's a monster of a game and my favorite on the system. I've been playing for 12 hours...
