not sure about the movie being canadian but yeah MBV is from across the pond, but SIANspheric kind of sounds like them (and IS canadian hehe), it's the closest comparison i can make.

my personal top canadian choices are the gandharvas and SIANspheric. the easiest comparisons to draw are jane's addiction and my bloody valentine but neither group sounds like a clone of their peer.
